  2. Thank you for trying YEARS Version 1.2.
  3.  
  4. We believe it is one of the easiest-to-use and most
  5. visually appealing calendar/reminder programs available.
  6.  
  7. YEARS is free-form.  You can quickly move around the years
  8. between the 18th and 22nd centuries--attaching notes
  9. to any date.  These notes can be a single word or 5,000
  10. words long; it's up to you.  A note can be a single event
  11. (such as the day you plan to visit your sister) or can be
  12. designated "every year" (such as your brother's birthday).
  13. If you select "every year" the note will automatically
  14. appear annually on that date.
  15.  
  16. YEARS will light up any date on the calendar which has
  17. a note attached to it. However, you have the option of
  18. whether the first few words of the note are also visible
  19. on the calendar.  In addition, you can load text into
  20. the Notepad from disk files (or save the contents of
  21. the Notepad to disk files).

  23. All standard holidays are automatically displayed
  24. and there is a Year View as well as a Month View.
  25.  
  26. There are also two help screens describing how to maneuver
  27. via keyboard or mouse.  Using a mouse is optional. Both
  28. notes and month views can be printed.

  31. INSTALLING YEARS
  32.  
  33. Put YEARS.EXE into any directory, then type YEARS
  34. to start it running.  If you want YEARS to be
  35. available from anywhere on your disk drive, put it
  36. into a directory which is in your "PATH" as defined
  37. in your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.
  38.  
  39. When you add notes, anniversaries, birthdays, etc.
  40. to the YEARS calendar--YEARS creates a file of your
  41. personal notes called CAL.DAT.  This file is put
  42. into the same directory where you have located YEARS.

  44. UNINSTALLING YEARS
  45.  
  46. If you decide not to use YEARS, just delete
  47. YEARS.EXE and CAL.DAT from your disk drive.  YEARS
  48. makes no changes to anything on your disk.

  50. REGISTRATION
  51.  
  52. If you like YEARS, please register it.  When you start
  53. YEARS, a registration reminder message will appear.
  54. Registering eliminates these reminders, and also puts you on
  55. our mailing list for YEARS updates and our other programs.  
  56. For example, there is a bill in Congress (and it might pass)
  57. which proposes to extend daylight savings two weeks eariler
  58. in the Spring and one week later into the Fall.  Registration
  59. will get you this adjustment to YEARS should it be
  60. necessary.
